Last night, while driving home, I chanced upon a radio promo. The prize was tickets to see “V for Vendetta” at G4. After about five calls to the station, I was put on-air to answer a “Truth or Dare” challenge. Being an honest and open guy, I chose Truth. It was a question about farting.
Come on, be honest. Which would you rather have: a secret about farting, or two premiere tickets?
I’ll let you know how the movie went tonight.
PS- If you were listening last night, I was the one with the busted car horn.
[UPDATE!] The movie was fantastic. It’s a well-made political suspense-action flick. The Wachowski trademark of a play of ideas is clear in this film, with the fluid action scenes perfectly complementing the clash of beliefs and attitudes. While not as enigmatic as The Matrix, it still delivers the message that actions are not mere actions estranged from any thought or emotion: they are vehicles for ideas to come about, particularly in critical moments.
Hugo Weaving (as V) and Natalie Portman (as Evey) deliver their roles superbly.
One cannot help but wonder how this movie, which is set in a fascist society, is so apt for screening, given the country’s political situation.
