It also is much different than your description. It is life that one is handed without choice such as homeland, mother tongue, body type, etc. This are the factors into which we are "thrown down".

Not sartre's idea (you spelled it wrong), although he used it often enough, but Heidegger's. He was a Nazi philosopher with fantastically paragmatic thoughts on life regardless of his political associations. I hate misinformation on the internet especially when the truth is a search engine away.

dear unhurried-i am having a discussion with someone on goodreads about beckett-i claim that the main character in Watt is crying at the endof section three because of his attachment to self and concept of self no longer validated by the perception of others-she claims he is crying over the "void" now as a long time soto zen buddhist(46 ys-i am 67) i have a very different take on what the void is-she quotes Heidegger "on the way to language" -Adorno "negative dialectics" and her christian faith-I am not impressed by her six year graduate school word slinging-and quote back master Dogen and the four noble truths-really just the first and second in this case-1-all life is suffering-2-the cause of suffering in this temporal world is attachment-even-in her case attachment to ones own concepts-where does her throwing this word geworfenheit even come into the discussion-please explain if you can
respectfully yours richard schmidt
