I am Cyclops!

I can’t help it. I just *had* to answer it. :)

You scored as Cyclops. Cyclops is the team leader of the X-Men, and a skilled one at that. He loves Jean Grey very much. He’s a strict and sometimes uptight leader, but he believes in his cause and he knows what he’s fighting for… Peace between Mutants and Humans. Powers: Optic blasts

Not bad. I don’t love the guy, but I could imagine an alternate universe where I’d fit in his shoes. And I know who my Jean Grey is.

Soundless cellphone ringtone

In The Midnight Run, a friend of mine writes about an article he read that focused on an ultra high frequency ringtone that teenagers use in class, but is unheard by the teacher.

The developer of this “Mosquito Ringtone” apparently investigated a theory that as people grow older, the range of sounds discernible by the ear diminishes. I’m 26 and I can hear it. Maybe not from far away, but I can, without pumping the volume of the laptop speakers. Can you? Check it out here.

Switch story

In the desire to continue writing amid this writer’s block, I’ve turned to tech-writing. Mind you, it’s not gut-wrenching, nose-bleeding technical articles that I write, but fanfare for the technology enthusiast. The topic: Linux migration.

In a nutshell, I’ve migrated to Ubuntu 6.0.6 (Dapper Drake release). Goodbye, Windows. :)

Silent Sadness

I look back at months of posts and wonder: where has my passion for writing gone?

The new posts seem lackluster in comparison to the posts of old. It's like color was removed from the canvas of my mind, and all that's left are shifting shadows of lif that rarely, if even at all, give justice to the rambling of my soul.

Where has it gone? When will it come back?

Yesterday found me over at G's place, out in the province. It was also "walking day", so we naturally had to find a place to walk.

The compound where her house is located, is along the highway. It has a few other houses alongside it, but the lot itself is still pretty much uncharted territory (to me, at least). There still is some vegetative growth in some parts of the property, including a creek, if I'm not mistaken. Obviously, this wouldn't do for an hour's worth of walking.

She didn't approve of the idea of walking along the highway, to the next town either. Realistically speaking, it's a bit dangerous, with all the trucks coming and going.

We usually walk in a quiet area, preferably with a lot of greens around. So the best option was to walk in the … (drum roll please)

Town cemetery.

Yes, the town cemetery. It wasn't the like the large cemeteries of the city where tombs stretch as far as the eye can see, but it had its share of 'residents'. The air was fresh, and the few people who visited their dead relatives were enough to keep us company.

There was also this group of workers who were gathering up the unmilled rice (palay) they laid out in the cemetery a few hours back. Now isn't that amazing? The rice you eat today could have come from that rice in the cemetery! (That would make an interesting plot for a Stephen King novel…)
